Study For Free: Mental health first aid course

We’re very fortunate that many of the courses we offer are currently fully funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (part of the Department for Education). This means that individuals can enrol on these courses for free (subject to meeting the funding eligibility criteria outlined below) and gain a nationally accredited NCFE CACHE qualification upon successful completion.

All the courses we offer are delivered on a flexible, distance learning basis. Therefore, there’s no need to attend college or face-to-face classes.

One of our most popular courses right now is the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace. This course can be completed in as little as 8 weeks.

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace

With one in four adults experiencing mental ill health in any given year, at some point you are likely to find that a colleague, friend or family member has a mental health difficulty. This is why the concept of first aid for mental health is so important.

Like physical first aid, mental health first aid is about providing initial care and support to someone in need. Sometimes this may be an emergency situation. This does not mean being a mental health expert, it means being aware of the warning signs of a developing mental health problem, or even a mental health crisis, and being able to offer appropriate support. It is about relieving a person’s distress by providing comfort and reassurance and listening to them in a non-judgemental way. It is about aiding the recovery of their mental health by signposting them to the right sort of help.

This highly popular course covers all these points. It also looks at how the workplace in particular can impact upon mental well-being and what individuals, their managers and their organisations can do to create a mentally healthy environment.

  • The course is fully funded courtesy of the Education Skills Funding Agency.
  • It is available to individuals as well as to organisations.
  • No need to attend college – study from home. The course is delivered on a distance learning basis over 8 weeks.
  • You will receive a hard copy version of all the course materials free of charge (which you keep at the end of the course). This is very different to many learning providers that only provide time-limited online learning materials.

  • Dedicated tutor support provided throughout.
  • The qualification is OFQUAL-regulated and is accredited by the awarding body NCFE CACHE. It is a level 2 qualification.
